The Covid-19 pandemic has caused seismic changes to the way we live, work, and function.
Almost overnight, businesses and their staff were forced to adjust to a new set of working practices. The impact of Covid-19 on the global economy is well documented, but in a challenging business environment, the part played by HR in overcoming the recent adversity can’t be overlooked. Whether that’s managing policies and procedures, establishing remote working practices, or looking after the wellbeing of staff, HR professionals have been at the forefront of supporting businesses and their staff throughout.
Enough of the doom and gloom
But it feels like the tide is turning. We’re starting to see a shift in focus from crisis management to stabilisation in the ‘new normal’. In a lot of cases, teams are beginning to strategise for what’s next – a return to work and a new set of challenges. And to perhaps reimagine how the HR function operates, how it can influence the wider business, and what will be required to take advantage of the generation-defining opportunities that may lay ahead.
In short, now is the perfect time to reflect and to look to the future.
